Start by deciding if you want to search for a local service project. If so, enter your city and state, or zip code.

Minimum Age

Many volunteer projects are age-sensitive, like animals and health care.  You may add an age to search for projects for your age and younger.

Good For

This is important because it may help with why you are volunteering.  Are you part of a club and looking for a group project?  How about an AP, IB, or school project?  Select as many categories as you like:

  • Individuals
  • Clubs
  • Court-ordered Community Service
  • Families
  • Boy Scouts/Eagle Scouts
  • Girl Scouts
  • AP Classes
  • IB Classes

Leadership

It’s recommended that many students learn leadership skills.  You can filter for these service projects as well.  We describe the project and how you can step-up and lead.

When you find a volunteer project, select I WANT TO VOLUNTEER.  You’ll either receive an email with the contact information or a link to an application or sign-up page.  Every nonprofit handles sign-ups a little differently.  You MUST reach out to the volunteer organization directly to request the project.  Due to privacy restrictions, we cannot give students’ contact information to nonprofits.  VolunteerCrowd carefully researches the organizations in advance to make sure they are student-friendly and offer meaningful projects.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FREE AND PREMIUM PROJECTS?

Free volunteer projects are low-barrier, often work from home, and typically do not require transportation.  These fun and easy projects are offered to all students. Specifically, for those who need their minimum required school or club volunteer hours.

Free projects are: campaigns, donation drives, and any cause related to hunger.  To find them, simply toggle the list to FREE MEMBER PROJECTS ONLY.

Premium projects are considered resume-building volunteer projects and they are ONLY available to Impact or College and Career Advantage Plan Members.  Students also get access to projects in all twenty cause areas like STEM, health, environmental, business internships, etc.  Premium projects are: abroad, events, internships, shadowing, and virtual volunteer opportunities.

HOW TO TRACK PROJECTS

Learn how to track projects you find on VolunteerCrowd or add the volunteer projects you find on your own, such as school-related service projects.   Showing proof of your volunteer hours builds credibility and helps colleges get to know the real you.  Start creating a comprehensive, verified service transcript for future college, scholarship, internship, or job applications.

A COMPREHENSIVE, VERIFIED SERVICE TRANSCRIPT

Many students use VolunteerCrowd to track and combine volunteer hours for school, club, and family community service projects.  You can also showcase your experience and skills by earning awards and strength and skill endorsements from the nonprofits you serve.  Stay organized by keeping the details on one unified, shareable transcript to impress colleges and employers.

VolunteerCrowd finds academic-related volunteer and shadowing opportunities to inspire students. We help them build a verified service transcript, earn digital badges and request Letters of Recommendation.  Visit VolunteerCrowd or download the app.
